The Marti Report says there were only 493 1968 GT "S" Code 390 V/8 Vin# 8F03Sxxxxxx4 Speed Convertibles produced! Of the 493 very few Highland Green Convertible 1968 GT "S" Code 4 Speed Convertibles were produced in 1968. How rare do you think it is to find a nice 1968 Highland Green GT "S" Code 390 V/8 4 Speed Convertible in 2010?? I've have several of these cars, but this is the first in Highland Green. 493 Baby Boomers have some great memories of flying down the highway with their girlfriend or friends with the top down, going through the gears with the pedal to the metal in the 60's and 70's! VERY FEW of the REAL 493 1968 Mustang GT "S" Code 390 V/8, 4 Speed convertibles in any color, in any condition have survived because most of them were rode hard from day one through the 60's and 70's. Not many of them were this nice after the first year! After 5 to 10 years of racing up and down the the highways many of them were wrecked and had already hit the grave yard. After 15 or 20 years of the 493 "S" Code 390 V/8 4 Speed cars produced, it became harder to find a nice 4 Speed car, compared to the Factory C-6 Automatic that were usually bought by an older adult and pampered. It is very rare to see one 42 years later. How often do you see a 1968 Mustang GT "S" Code 390 V/8 4 Speed Convertible at your local sat night cruise-in shows, compared to the much easier to find 1968 Camaro SS Convertible??

It is a VERY RARE FIND!  Nice GT  "S" Code 390 V/8, 4 Speed Convertibles  are hard to come by!! You would have a very hard time finding a nice example like this one. It was family owned for 30 + years. When owner died his son who was 14 years inherited the car. As an adult he spent years and approx. $85,000. + restoring it the way he wanted it, because he had planned to keep the car the rest of his life. He spent $8,500. on the engine for parts and labor. It was balanced and blue printed. About $1,000. was spent on the cooling system. Just before he was able to have new top was installed things changed in his life and he had to sell the car. It doesn't have 100 miles on the restoration. The engine and drive train haven't been broken yet. It LOOKS GREAT from every angle when the Black Top is down with the Black Boot and when it is up.!! This GT "S" Code 390 RUNS OUT VERY STRONG and HANDLES GREAT!!! It is definitely a "COOL" and VERY "FAST" CAR!!
