It is a very strong running "J" Code GT Convertible!! It feels like a strong "S" 390 when driving it!! The Gorgeous Sunlit Gold Metallic exterior with the Black GT "C" stripe and the Beautiful Nugget Gold Interior is a KILLER Color COMBO!! I bought this GT in California from a man that had to sell it because he was moving out of state. He hadn't put many miles on the car since he had spent about $16,000.00 on it mechanically. This includes the engine , the running gear, brakes, suspension including new coils springs, new upper ball joints and the new lower control arms , all the gauges and factory Tach calibrated, the deluxe steering wheel professionally restored, new interior , new gas tank and a new fuel from the new sending unit to the new fuel pump etc. , Basically he wanted it to run out strong!! He wanted it to handle and the brakes to stop like it did when it was new! He wanted to drive and enjoy the car on the weekends. It didn't bother him that the paint was faded. He buffed it out and it didn't look bad. He didn't want to take the time to take the car apart and have it correctly painted so he enjoyed for a while. Then he had to sell it because of moving out of state . So when I bought the car I was very surprised how it ran so strong, it handled like new and stopped like a new car! So after enjoying it for a while, I had it taken apart and painted by one of the guys that paints my Bullitts. The fenders, hood, doors, both valances trunk lid and other exterior body parts were taken off the main car body when it was recently repainted. It is a gorgeous car!! New chrome , Trim, Emblems, Letters and Gas Cap and more were put back on the car after it was painted and assembled . Restored Deluxe Steering Wheel, It has Tilt column. Factory 8,000 RPM Tachometer, AM / FM CD player, Power Disc Brakes, P/ Steering. The Factory 4 Speed shifts out great!! Sometime over the last 40 years many of the Original Factory Top Loader Shifters have been changed out for a Hurst shifter. This GT still has the Factory one year only Top Loader 4 Speed Shifter. Beautiful GT Chrome Styled Steel Wheels, BF Goodrich TA Radials. This 1968 GT Convertible LOOKS GREAT from every angle when the Power Black Top is down and when it is up! Beautiful new Gold Top Boot. Nice examples of these 1967 GT , GTA and 1968 GT Convertibles and Fastbacks are becoming more difficult to find!! They are becoming MORE DESIRABLE EVERYDAY !! This Gorgeous GT Convertible is a VERY RARE FIND!! There was ONLY ONE built like it in 1968, you will NEVER have one like it showing up at a local show or cruise in!!!

I knew this west coast 1968 GT convertible was a very solid car. I had never had it on a rack before. A interested buyer had asked us to get some undercarriage photos. We put it on a rack . I wish I had known what I found out when I took a wet rag and started wiping away the 40 year old thick dirt on this original undercarriage that had never been undercoated never cleaned or detailed, It was the original red oxide primer from the factory. I could not believe that on the bottom of the front core support under the black paint that had come off still had the red oxide primer after 40 years of all of the elements from the highway. When I rubbed it , it was red oxide . The area under battery tray on most all 40 year 68 mustangs usually have rusted through years ago. This area is still very solid. I could see that new coils springs the new upper ball joints and the new lower control arms had recently been installed. A new gas tank and a new fuel from the new sending unit to the new fuel pump had recently installed. This engine has very few miles on it since it was rebuilt. You could tell that it was still new looking from below. I could not believe all the different areas that I rubbed away that still have the factory red oxide primer on the original sheet metal. I rubbed both rear frame rails the area up above the rear end and one of the front torque boxes and it was red oxide primer. All the area up above the bell housing the area above the transmission etc was original red oxide primer without rubbing any dirt away. This is the MOST SOLID 1968 mustang convertible that I have ever had with so much of the original red oxide primer on the undercarriage. This a very RARE FIND! If I had taken these photos when I decided to sell it , this car would have sold long ago at the original price of $45,900!!! I took it for a short drive after taking it off the rack. It is such a joy to drive because it runs out so strong, the transmission changes like 1968 not sloppy like most 4 speed top loader shifters that are worn out. It drives out great!! The brakes stop like they were built to stop in 1968!!! This GT J Code Convertible is a steal at this price.
