1968 Shelby GT 500 KR Convertible
(SOLD)

History:
The GT 500 KR Convertible was the top of the line and most desireable Shelby in its day when it hit the market! This bad boy is a 428 Cobra Jet V/8, Factory 4 Speed (only 267 of these were 4 Speeds), 3:50 Traction-Lok rear end, P/Steering, P/Disc Brakes. These are just a few of the factory-installed items that made the GT 500 KR Convertible the Champion of American built convertibles that could ordered from a dealership. Sometimes if you were there when the truck arrived you could buy one when it hit the dealers lot!! But most of them were pre sold.Today they are even more desireable and the best investment as far as Shelby's. One sold this year for around $130,000.00. They are continuing to go up in value! The KR stood for "KING of the ROAD"!! And today it is more than ever, it is the "KING of the ROAD when it comes to "The Shelby to own! They will continue to appreciate in value and in the eyes of the shelby fans!! There were only 518 of the Shelby GT 500 KR Convertible. How many nice examples are still available??

Documentation:
I have the Marti Elite Report that confirms the above information about how this car was ordered. But what is better is that I have the a copy of the Factory Invoice from the Shelby Automotive Co., Inc. that went to the Dealer with the car. The Ford Vin# along with the Shelby# is 8T03R215917-4147 with (4147) being the Shelby #. It SOLD for $4,983.27! The Shelby Invoice LINES UP with information on the Marti Report!! Only 41 of these GT 500 KR Convertibles were painted Wimbledon White. This car was said to be the last of only 12 that came with the 3:50 Traction-Lok rear ends. Also available with this car is the Ownercard Warranty Card with the Shelby Cobra Emblem on it and the Vin# and all the other information that is found on the data tag on the door and Invoice. It also comes with the 1968 Shelby Cobra GT 500 Owners Manual, and the 1968 Warranty Facts Booklet. And a new Ford "Special Performance Vehicle Data just like the original tag that is on the driver door, This is given with the Mari Report. It is listed in the Shelby America World Registry and that information also lines up with the above information.

Yes they were a good Investments in 1968! But the bottom line is that it is an excellent investment today! It was a nice car that has had a nice restoration to freshen up the car to drive and enjoy. This KR has the correct red primer on the bottom of the body. Only a few people have the opportunity to own a great investment in Shelby muscle cars such as this.

Oh, by the way, this GT 500 KR runs and drives great! Yes, it is a blast from the past! And if you buy it, in 2012 you will "be glad you made the investment," especially after having enjoyed this appreciating investment for 10 years!
