The 1959 Desoto Firesweep Sportsman 2 Dr. Hardtop Coupe with the tall finned quarter panels sweeping back from the panoramic rear window was one of the BEST LOOKING "FINNED" cars of the 50's!! The Tri-Cluster (3) turret-shaped (long) tail light lens that extended out of each of the COOL TALL TAILFINS looked like fire coming out of the fins at night when crusing down the highway! On the sides of the body's full-length sweep spears were narrower and redesigned. They took a dip behind the rear wheel and then curved upwards towards the tips of the tall tailfinns. The 59 Desoto body had clean crisp lines from the tips of the front fenders to the end of the fins. The recessed exterior door handles were years ahead of the car industry and added to the cars clean styling. The beautiful long trunk lid tied the rear end together and flowed over the edge of large massive rear bumper. Ornate styling was most evident up front, led by a two-section bumper and a new rectangular cross-hatched grille insert , where the parking lights were placed, stretched between the headlights Air scoops were "in" for 1959. Desoto had 3 and they were built right into the bi-level front bumper. At the bottom was a full-with scoop. Above it, on either side of the license plate indentation (in the lower bar) were two more. After 44 years the COOL styling of the 1959 Desoto is even more appreciated today than in 1959. Try finding one today. Then try finding a NICE EXAMPLE!! Yes they are a VERY RARE FIND!!

     This GORGEOUS Salmon and Pearl White 1959 Desoto Firesweep Sportsman 2 Dr. Hardtop Coupe is a VERY NICE EXAMPLE!! It has the cool looking optional anodized aluminum insert in the full-length sweep spear side trim, dual fender mounted mirrors, special molding package. The dual rear antennas sweeping off the tall tailfins really set this car off!! It is has a beautiful Tan and Beige vinyl and plaid cloth interior with swivel drivers seat and passengers seat that both rotate outward to a 40 degree angle.. Strong 361 V/8 (Nicely detailed engine and trunk compartments). It has the Push Button automatic transmission, Power Steering, Power Brakes, 2 Sun Shaded see through Sun Visors, nice full hubcaps and WWW tires. It has a great sounding dual exhaust. It is a wonderful handling automoblie!! It definitely has CLASS!! I have never owned one before and probably will never have the oppportunity to own one again, especially one that is as NICE as this one is!! If you found a restorable car, it would probably take over $50,000 to bring it anywhere close to this car. The person that is fortunate enough to find out about this car first and purchase it, will be a VERY HAPPY NEW OWNER!!
